Arkle Trophy Chase Form Guide

The 2010 Arkle Trophy Chase form has been a confusing affair this year with no one horse being the stand out. We have been making an attempt at highlighting the main contenders for the 2010 Arkle Chase this season and there have been three main contenders who have stood out from the crown.

Somersby made his claim for the Arkle when he won the Henry VIII Novices Chase at Sandown recently with a convincing display ahead of Crack Away Jack who is another in Arkle contention. Somersby jumped like a dream despite it just being his second start over the fences and he has been clipped for the big race at Cheltenham.

Long Run is a horse that is attracting a lot of attention after winning on his first start in the UK and Kempton on Boxing Day, he came over from France with a big reputation and looks every inch the star despite his relatively young age. It now appears that Long Run will bypass the Arkle to have a crack at the RSA Chase leaving the big three to fight it out.

Also on Boxing Day we saw Captain Cee Bee and Sizing Europe clash at Leopardstown in a showdown ahead of the Arkle Chase. It was Sizing Europe who came out victorious but it was not a straightforward victory, Captain Cee Bee looked to be travelling the better of the two until he fell at the last fence leaving Sizing Europe to take the victory. However, on this form it appears that Captain Cee Bee is the better of the two if he can get round at Cheltenham and that is reflected in the Arkle Chase Odds.

Captain Cee Bee backed up his favouritism with a good win at the start of February at Naas when he won on softer ground than he would have liked and despite one jumping mistake he still got up with ease to enhance his Arkle claims, he will now head straight to Cheltenham with high hopes and a short price. One that has fought his way towards the top end of the market in behind the big three is Riverside Theatre who has been in good form this season. He has won two on the bounce this season in good company including last time out at Kempton after Christmas and appears to have good each/way claims.
